work for retail store for seven moths, got involved in accident broke ankle had surgery doctor told me at 8 weeks. I told my employer they told me since i wasn't employed for a year or more i didn't qualify for FMLA or couldn't be placed on light duty due to company policy. I had to voluntary quit and i would be able to re-apply when the doctor released me to full duty. I have been released went and re-apply an recevied a letter in the mail saying they ran a back-ground check an i am unable to work for there company. i don't understand I have no new charges since 2002. they ran a background check before they hired me the first time. and I am unable to file for Unemployment!

Bummer. You probably did not have to voluntarily quit, but if they had fired you because you could not perform the job duties, you may not have qualified for unemployment. If the accident was caused by another person's negligence, then you may have a claim agsinst them for your lost wages.
