Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I adopted a boy who's biological mother died a few years ago. He is Trinidadian and his mother was Trinidadian. She had two kids and left them a small inheritance in Trinidad. When the older boy became of age he appointed and executor in Trinidad to get his mothers money paid to him and his brother (my son). The executor paid the older boy his money but says that based on the Trinidad law I can not get access to my son's portion because it has to go to him directly (even though i am his mother). therefore she will hold it until he is 18. is this legal?

You are asking Georgia lawyers a question about Trinidad law. Maybe you'll get lucky, but you need to ask this in the appropriate category for that country.

More than likely at a minimum you probably would have to file for guardianship of the property of a minor in the probate court in your county of residence - this assumes Trindad would turn the monies over to the probate court. Your access to the funds would be determined by the applicable Georgia statutes.
