I have been served divorce papers and have 30 days to give an answer to these papers. What does that mean?

It means just what it says in the pleading - you have been sued by a spouse for divorce (and perhaps other things), and you need to answer the complaint in 30 days. It also means to see a lawyer who handles divorce cases.

It means you need to file a legally sufficient Answer with the clerk of court. Consult with a local attorney ASAP.
