Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia

Lost Green card

I have a elderly parents. My dad just began hospice due to stage 4 lung cancer. My mom is a native of Chile. She came to USA in the 1960's and has since then lost her green card. She has no form of photo ID. Upon my dad's death (upcoming) she will not be able to obtain his social security or pension because she lacks ID. This is a serious problem and I need advice quick. My dad is an American citizen, and they have been married for 40+ years.

What can I do to help her, can she get a replacement green card? She has a social security number from when she entered the US, but she never did change her maiden name to her married name. Now the Social Security office says, she cannot change her name without a picture ID.

Re: Lost Green card

She should be able to apply for a replacement card. You never really lose the status unless your renounce it or abandon it, so another card should be available.
