Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Major kitchen remodel

I currently rent a house and have been here over a year, so my lease is month to month. My landlord is planning to rip out the kitchen and put in a new one. I work out of my home fulltime and cannot afford the disruption. I also do not want to have the expense of the family eating out every meal for months. I think that my landlord expects me to pay the full rent during the remodel. What are my options?

Re: Major kitchen remodel

The obvious first, and best, option is to discuss it with the landlord and work it out (staying, or leaving, and amount of rent) well in advance of the work starting. If you can't agree on rent and scope of work, reach an agreement (in writing) on moving dates.
