Property Manager keeps rent

Signed a lease with owners (PM)property manager on a house and moved in Nov 08. Paid rent to the PM for three months. Owner calls me directly Jan09, say she has not received any money from PM, and to pay here directly Feb 09. We signed an amended lease agreement, sent her the rent for Feb09 according to the new agreement -she sent it back and is evicting me for rent money I gave PM (Nov08 - Jan09 - I have two of the three receipts of payment). Is this legal?? Isn't our new agreement valid?

Consult with a local attorney. More needs to be explored than what you have posted; however, it sounds like you are correct. Have the original lease, the new lease and all the receipts reviewed.
