Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

Contesting the Will

How long do I have to contest a will? I was included in the original will but a new one was drawn up when a relative found out and had it change while the person was diagnosed with alzheimers. Now the land I was to inherit places restrictions on my property and limits the valve of my home. The relative turned the person against me and took advantage of his alzheimers state of mind and had him sign a new will. Do I have a case?

Re: Contesting the Will

You should consult with a local attorney. You didn't say whether the person whose will you're talking about has passed away or not. If not, there is nothing to contest at this point since a will only takes effect upon the person's death. However, if the person is still alive, there may be steps you can take to have the latter will declared null and void.
