Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois

Contract and Agreement Issues with Client

Hello, I own a web design business

in Illinois and am currently working

with a client who lives in California.

He told me that the design we did

can not be put in our portfolio and

we sent him an email saying that

we wouldn't but after several

weeks working on it, it is one of our

best designs. I was thinking,

Doesn't it have to be a signed

contract for it to be legal? Because

it was just an email agreeing. I

really want to find a work-around in

putting this in my portfolio to where

he can't do anything about it.

Please help.

Re: Contract and Agreement Issues with Client

Why did he say that you cannot put it in your portfolio? Can you improve/change the design so that it becomes your design? This answer does not constitute legal advice because you are not as yet my client.
