Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

5th amendemnt

I was at work and they jad me sign a volunteer sheet saying that i voluntered to sit in the meeting. They accused me of stealing moneyf rom them which i didn't do. They don't have me on camera they just have paper work saying that My register was short. The manager had me write the amount and the days my register was short and sign it. He gave it to the police saying that I confessed when in reality i didn't i signed it because he told me to because me signing it was saying that i did read and see the paper that said my register was short. Then I went to jail and they charge me with a misdermenor. I was wondering when I go to court will they be able to thrown out the sign paper. Because wouldn't that be the 5th amendment i can't be witness against myself?

Re: 5th amendemnt

Hello. I can certainly understand your concerns. I had a client a few months ago charged with a crime where the circumstances were similar to your situation. I am happy to say that the State dismissed the case against him. You should have representation in court. I suggests you get a lawyer. If the case is not thrown out the first day of court, a motion to quash your arrest and to suppress evidence should be prepared and filed for presentation to the court. A motion to suppress is a motion that requests that the court keep out evidence and signed statements that were obtained against the will of the accused person. There is a lot more to explain about this, but I am merely giving you a brief summary of your rights. will be happy to discuss this with you further.
