Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Guardianship papers filed

We just received from the court house a copy of guardianship papers that were filed in 1999 for my husbands daughter. He was never married to the mother but his name is ont he birth certificate. The mother signed over guardianship to her parents without my husband knowing. In the papers it says there is no other adjudicated parent other than the mother. Whatdoes that mean? We would like to get the guardianship revoked. Do we even have a case or the right to do that? If we do what would be the first steps towards revoking this agreement?

Re: Guardianship papers filed

It means that she is the only recognized parent - just because your name is on a birth cert does not make you a parent in the eyes of the law. I answered the rest of your questions on July 8, 2003.
