Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Money Owed

A friend of mine used my car during the months of April-September of 2007. During that time, he got 5 parking tickets and 2 red light violations of the car. I have asked him to pay these tickets. He refused. I sent him a letter asking for payment in a reasonable amount of time. He now wants a copy of the tickets. I am a city employee and because of this, I was able to put the tickets on a repayment program @ 299.48 per month, until the tickets are paid on full. I need help. I am paying a debt that is not mine.

Re: Money Owed

You could bring an action against your friend in civil court, probably in small claims depending on the total amount of your loss, for the amount of loss you suffered as a result of his/her actions. Good luck!

Re: Money Owed

You need to sue your friend in small claims court. You may have proof problems.
