Legal Question in Insurance Law in Illinois

I was in accident/why is my wife getting a bill

A truck backs into me on private property. No tickets issued. I turned info into my insurance because the other driver tried to say he wasn't at fault. Two days later my wife gets a bill for repairs to his vehicle. His insurance company sent it with a note saying she was responsible because car was in her name. She wasn't driving and I wasn't at fault.Do I need a lawyer. The insurance company said they'd take care of it.Do I get stuck with higher rates because the other driver lies about being responsible.

In my opinion you do not need an attorney on this particular matter. Hopefully your own insurance carrier will take your recorded statement and you will be sure to explain how you were not at fault and exactly how the other driver failed to keep a careful lookout and backed into you. The other driver's insurance company may also want a recorded statement. Normally, this is the type of problem that the two insurance companies settle between themselves. You may certainly consult with a local attorney if you wish, but at this point there is no need for legal represetation.
