Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I was laid off via the telephone on friday Feb. 25TH as that is my scheduled day off. The reason was becuase business is slow. I found out that a new employee started on Sat. the 26TH at a lower rate of pay. Is there any legal action i can take in the form of maybe wage discrimination or something?

There is no such thing as wage discrimination, there is sexual discrimination, ethnic, racial and age discrimination. If your circumstances fit one of those, you may have a claim. However, if your claim is based solely on the fact that your employer can find someone to work for less. there is no cause of action for discrimination.
