Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I was recently terminated from a job I held for ten years for inconsistancy in performance. For the first 8 years I always received a meets or higher on my performance reviews. In 2008 I recieved a low meets and in2009 a needs improvement. I grew from a $35000 a year job to $48000 in 8 years not receiving a raise in the last 2 years. It was brought to my attention a couple of times that they could replace me with someone younger and for a lot less pay. I am 58 and good at my job. What can I do, finding a job is not going to be easy.

Is your employer made comments about how you could be replaced by someone younger, than you should explore whether or not age discrimination played a role in your sudden performance problems and termination.
