Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Kansas

was served for a debt

I live in Kansas and I have a Medical bill with a hospital that is approximately two years past due. Initially I had offered payments that were very small but it was all that I could do. At the time i was working two jobs to make ends meet. I now can pay the debt and in fact have them on a short list to address, but i was served papers yesterday to go to court in two weeks and pay for the legal fees as well. How can i resolve this without going to Court and I do not want to pay their legal fees. do i really need an attorney? and do i have to go to court? and at this point will they work with me?

Re: was served for a debt

This is perplexing. You wonder if you need an attorney, yet your asking attorneys what to do with your case. What do you think lawyers do? We advise people as to their legal options. Is that what you want? Do you want advice on your case? If you tender full payment of the bback due amount (including accrued interest) they MIGHT waive the legal fees. Good Luck
