Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas

How Long does a felony stay on your record?

I am living in Wisconsin, I want to get my insurance license and was told that it would have a background check. If that is so, will a felony record show up on that from Kansas in 1988? I stole some stuff and was charged with several counts of burglry and maybe even one count of agravated burgarly and some theft, it was all one incident, will that hinder me? Thanks Randy

A felony stays on your record forever unless you take action to have it expunged, or removed, from your record. Kansas does allow for expungements for some convictions, and the convictions you described are eligible. Give me a call or email to discuss it. My toll-free number is 1-866-665-7384. If your old convictions are in a court far from me, I'll refer you to someone.
