first offense drug posession and paraphenalia

i was in grayso kentucky got stopped in road block. i was asked to produce my drivers liscense. i did not have it with me. they asked me if i hade drugs in the car. the only thing i had was a broken pot pipe. i am being told this is a felony and that i could really serve some jail time. any input on this matter would be very helpful. also this is the first time i have ever been arrested.

If all you had was marijuana and a 1st offense paraphernalia, then it's just a misdemeanor and carries up to a year in jail. However, if you've had a prior paraphernalia charge, then it's a felony. Also possession of most other drugs are felonies: meth, cocaine, etc. which carries 1-5 years.
