Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Maryland

Foreclosure & Bankruptcy

My husband just infromed our house was going to be forclosed upon and they have not sent anything written to him. but he said he wrote a letter. We refinanced the house couple of years ago and at the time they advised them taking my name off the house since my credit was the worse. If he files fore bankruptcy will it save our house. He has already defaulted on all his credit cards and they are sending him to collections. i need to know if I will have a home for my child.

Re: Foreclosure & Bankruptcy

Bankruptcy can stop a foreclosure, but you will need to cure the arrearages in the course of a 3-5 year plan, and stay current on the mortgage. If the problem is that the mortgage is more than you can afford, you may need to consider other options (sale, refinance), either in or out of bankruptcy.
