Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

wage garnishment in Maryland

Can my wages be garnished for a judgement? I will be relocating into Maryland next month. I am currently unemployed but will be starting a new job. How can they find out where I work? How long does it take for them to find this info out.

Re: wage garnishment in Maryland

Yes, wages can be garnished in MD. Employment info is sometimes on credit reports, and if the judgment creditor can locate you, they can serve you with papers requiring you to answer questions including about your employment. How long it takes to find out depends on how diligent they are.
