Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

De facto parent

I am a lesbian. When me and my girlfriend broke up she took me to court to get visitation for my 4 year old daughter. The court granted her visitation and they named her my child's De facto parent. Can I file for child support from her? or would I have to go through the biological father?

Re: De facto parent

If your ex adopted the child, or if you conceived the child with the bio father as a sperm donor and as part of a plan with your ex whereby it was understood that you were both going to "parent" the child, then I think you at least have an arguable claim. Obviously this is somewhat of a "new frontier", so there isn't a lot of precedent in this area.
