Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Can my friend legally move in with me?

So my friends parents are going

through a really nasty divorce. His

mother is taking him and his brother,

but she doesn't really care about my

friend and she has no job to take care

of him at this time. On top of all that,

he is being evicted from their house

and has no where to live. We would

have no problem having another

person in our house. How can my

parents go about taking him in

legally? If both his parents give the

ok, can he move in with us?

Re: Can my friend legally move in with me?

I assume your friend is under 18, because at that age he can move wherever he wants. If his parents are agreeable he can certainly live in your household. If this is going to be a long term arrangement, your parents might want to seek a guardianship so that they can deal with school matters, health care, etc.
