Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Tpr

Would it be wise to send an email to my ex to ask him to terminate his parental rights? I did file for custody and CS, but at this point, I no longer want him involved and I am tired of court. He has been constantly writing the court telling lies about me and I am so fed up. I am afraid he is tried to start a string of false events and claim me as unfit so he and his gf can take my child away from me, whom I have had since birth. we were never married If I asked him via email to TPR, could this be used against me in court? What else can I do.

Re: Tpr

If you successfully terminate his parental rights, your child will lose the benefit of the child support he/she is entitled to receive from him. It's highly unlikely that the court will take custody away from you unless you are demonstrably abusing or neglecting your child, or have serious social problems (drugs, etc.). If he has any kind of a relationship with the child (visitation, contact), it's doubtful the court will terminate his parental rights if he contests that, and it would seek unlikely that he would consent to it under those circumstances.
