Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

Loaned money and now can't get it back

I loaned a so called friend money an approx. $300 and I was told I would receive it back a few weekends ago. I recently asked him when I would be receiving it and he told me I need to stop calling him or he would get me for harassment. So now I dont know what to do because I need that money back. I have a voice message of him stating that he would give me all my money back and when and I also have receipts of the Moneygrams that I sent to him. So my question is, is there anything I can do to get this money back? By the way he lives in Texas and I am in Maryland.

If he won't voluntarily pay him you will have to file a small claims case against him in Texas. Obviously that's not a very practical solution, but unfortunately that's your only option. If the court grants you a judgment, you can collect by attaching his bank account or paycheck if he works.
