Legal Question in Immigration Law in Maryland

TN visa job loss

I'm Canadian citizen on TN visa and was laid off on 4/24/09; however i'll receive my last paycheck of my salary upto 4/24/09 along with 40 hours of vacation pay on 4/29/09. I have not signed any termination documents and my company will not inform USICS. What should I do now regarding my status. I hope to find a new job in a month. What is my best option to stay in US and join this new job. Do I need to apply for B2 or wait a few days to get new employment.

Re: TN visa job loss

Dear Inquirer:

As long as you find a new employer within a "reasonable time," e.g. 30 days, you could file for a TN change of employers without departing the US. If not, you will need to reapply for a new TN visa at the pre-flight inspection in Canada based on your new offer of professional employment.
