Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Charges after the fact

My boyfriend and i were sitting in a public park a friend of his drove up and he went over and said hello the friend i guess is a known drug dealer they searched my boyfriends car and the other guy I never got out of my boyfriends car and my car was parked next to boyfriends car the police searched my car as well as everyone else even though i was never in it in their presence during this whole investigation. My question is did they have a right to serach my car since it was not involved at all. They arrested the 2 men and not me but said that they can bring charges up for things they found in my car can they do that. They also did not arrest me and asked me to call them saying if i didn't they are going to have to file charges can they do this?
