Legal Question in Insurance Law in Massachusetts

I own a home with my ex-husband. He moved the home insurance to another agency and come to find out my name is not on the insurance. I am on the deed and mortgage that was recently paid in full. Is this against the law? both for the insurance company and also for my ex to omit me?

I don't know the exact answer to your question, but it is probably more important that the property itself is covered. In that respect, I don't think there is anything particularly concerning about it. However, since you are a homeowner, I think it is appropriate and important that you are an authorized user on the account with your insurance company. You should call them up and let them know that you are a homeowner and need to have access to the account, decision-making, and access to records. They will tell you what you need to do next.
