termination during hospital stay

a friend of our family had been employed in a convenient store for roughly 4 months. she suffered from a heart attack. she was in the hospital for more than 2 weeks and therefore not on their payroll and then terminated.she is still unable to work and she feels this termination will hinder her from getting another job. did they have the right to terminate her and if not does she have a legit claim to compensation.

Your friend should contact the Mass.Commissio Against Discrimination in Boston immediately. She may have a cliam for discriminatio based on handicap. If not, this terminatio should not affect her future employability.
