Legal Question in International Law in Mexico

Injury occuring at a nightclub in cancun, mexico

I was invloved in an incident at a nightclub in Cancun mexico. I was attacked by another patron of the club with a bottle of vodka. Without any reasoning the man hit me in the face with the bottle, the bottle shattered and left me in a mexican hospital with a bill for $15,000US. The next day I went to the club asking for insurance info. The club manager sent me out to 3 different police stations to collect police reports and other various documents. I returned to the club manager the next day with all the paperwork and he told me that his insurance policy doesn't cover 3rd party accidents, and because it wasn't one of their employees that struck me there was little he can do. He also refused to give me the insurance policy #. My question is where do I go from here? I still have post operative care thats gonna cost me an arm an a leg when i get back to the States (& my face looks likes like crap). Someone PLEASE HELP!!!

If you have the name of the patron who hit you, then you must go to the criminal court judge that has the case.

It is true that the insurance wont cover the club, however you can sue them for their civil responsability if we can link the incident with a law violation of the club (the smallest violation can do the trick). If I read correctly between lines the responsible patron was not detain by the club or arrested by the autorithy, if so then they become liable. In order to provide you with the correct steps to follow I need to know:

What happen with the agressor

How where you taken from the club to the hospital

Did the police arrive at the scene

Where was the bottle (table or bar)

My preliminare opinnion would be that the club is responsible for putting bottles in table (even if it is normal) when they know people get drunk in their club. I had a similar case but with a gunshot and we made the bar liable cause they had more people than what the firedep. authorized, so we linked the incident with the fact that to many people ignited the conflict.
