Re: when do immagration get involved

I don't exactly know what your question is, but I will try to figure it out, okay? I presume you are worried about a criminal arrest and/or conviction, and a person's risk of losing their greencard because of that, yes? Whenever a lawful permanent resident commits a crime, there is always a risk that the Department of Homeland Security will get involved. In many cases, a lawful permanent resident with an arrest or conviction, or both, will travel, and he will be stopped upon his return. In other cases, when the person finishes his sentence in jail, he will be held by the jail for pickup by immigration officers. The red flag usually rises when the lawful permanent resident either encounters law enforcement officials, or immigration officials. Otherwise, the government sleeps and the lawful permanent resident who commits a crime may not be detected until he has to renew his green card; then his criminal record will be raised by his fingerprints. Now, if you have something specific that has happened, you may want to let me know so my answer can be a little more specific. Take care and good luck!
