A control date is a date for the parties to meet (attorneys if they are represented) with the magistrate, make sure that the medical is received, up to date and exchanged and that a demand for resolution is made. There are usually a few control dates before a trial date is set. There also may be multiple trial dates. A redemption is a settlement hearing where the magistrate makes sure that the plaintiff understands his or her rights and that it is reasonably fair and that proper procedures are followed.
