Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Missouri

I got hired to cut down some trees for a women and I got a down payment and before I could do the tree job she had fired me. She said she no longer wanted me to do the tree job for her. Later on I recieved a phone call from her son stating that he had my 17 yr old nephews license plate number and he was keeping it in his house. My nephew had nothing to do with the job he had just drove me over there that day. Is it legal for him to do that and do i have to give the women back the money she had already gave me prior to firing me?

If you did no work, nor took any activity to prepare for the job, you did not earn the fee to do the tree job. In that case, you need to refund the money. If you spent money or gave up doing another job, in order to be available and prepared to do her tree job, then you have eanred some of the lady's money. You will have to negotiate that amount with her.

As far as your nephew's license plate number, it is a public number. There is nothing illegal about making note of a license plate number. The problem is what they do with that information. It does not appear that there is anything illegal or potentially civilly liable about noting and keeping record ofa license plate number.

Good luck
