what rights does the childs father have if not on the birth certificate?

The father may petition to prove paternity and may also petition for visitation rights (or custody). Depending on the circumstances, no visitation or liberal visitation may be granted. However, it is rare that no visitation at all is granted.

Additionally, the father may be responsible for child support.
