Thank you for your inquiry.

When two unmarried parents have a child and the current custodial parent wishes to move with the child out of state, you need to obtain either:

1) Written permission from the other parent;

or

2) A Court Order granting you permission to relocate out-of-state.

If you are filing a petition with the Court for relocation you may also petition for a Termination of Parental Rights which, if granted, would give you freedom to relocate easier in the future.

You still need to get the natural father's written permission, a court order or terminate the natural father's parental rights.
