Legal Question in Personal Injury in Nevada

Statute of Limitations on injuried Dog

Our dog was injuried by a PitBull on 7-4-05. Cost about $900 vet bill. Can I still sue in Small Claims court?

Re: Statute of Limitations on injuried Dog

You can still sue. Your claim would be an injury to property claim similar to if the person had hit your car or your home. The statute of limitations would be three years, but to be safe I would file within a few months. If you need help, contact me, but it's a small matter you can likely handle yourself in small claims court.

See if the other dog owner has homeowner's insurance and turn it in as an insurance claim first. The insurer will likely pay it.
