Legal Question in Family Law in New Hampshire

Name Change

I was divorced in the state of Connecticut in 1977.

I didn't then, but would now like to legally change back to my maiden name.

How do I go about doing that?

Re: Name Change

You can file a petition in the New Hampshire Courts so long as the reason for changing your name is not to avoid law enforcement, prosecution, or creditors.

Re: Name Change

Since you are now a resident of New Hampshire, you may file a petition for change of name in the Probate Court in the county where you reside. If your petition is granted, be sure to notify all governmental authorities, your employer, and don't forget to change your driver's license and voter registration.
