Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Debt Collection

For how long can a person be dunned for a debt? This original debt is over 10 years old and is apparently picked up periodically by various collection agencies. I don't know if a judgment was ever filed. Original amount was approximately under $2,000.

Re: Debt Collection

Court judgments can be collected (enforced) for at least 20 years from entry of judgment.
