Legal Question in Family Law in New Mexico

You had answered my question about a vehicle that was bought for a family member when they were young but put in their legal guardians name for that child. The child in question is still in High School but has left the home and just turned 18. Can the legal guardian thats on the title refuse to hand the vehicle over if it is in the best intrest of the child.

If the guardians were appointed only because of the child's age, then their authority terminates when the child reaches 18. If they were appointed because of some physical or mental problem the child has, then they remain in authority until relieved of that position by the court.
