Legal Question in Family Law in New York
pre-nup
My 21 year old son is planing to get married this summer. He has approximately $150,000.00. Girlfriend has 0. the question is that my son will inherite shares in my corporation that are presently worth about 2 million dollars. After he inherites these shares and say 5 years go by and the shares increase in value and are worth 4 million will his wife be entitled to any of these shares ( or value of them)if there is a prenup or not?

If you have a prenuptial agreement prepared before you are married your son can protect his inheritance.

Inheritances are ordinarily not marital property.

He should have a prenup. If we're talking about millions of dollars at risk, why not spend a few hundred to ensure that he keeps it?
