Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Recently, my boss decided to send me on a business trip. It was to start directly after an already scheduled vacation which I had already paid in full. He told me via email to book the flight and train for the business trip with my travel agent on my credit card and that he would reimburse me for any cost I incurred above and beyond my own vacation, which I did. Approximately a month after booking the additional travel arrangements (and before I was ever actually reimbursed for my additional costs) he decided to cancel the trip. I now have the cost of the original business trip, plus the fees associated with the cancellation which totals roughly $1,100 on my credit card and my boss is stalling to pay me back. What is my course of action to secure my repayment? Thank You.

You are entitled to repayment of that money. You have the right to file a small claims action for the return of the money or file a complaint with the NY Labor Department. However, do you really want to sue your employer while currently employed? That is a "business" decision that only you may consider.
