Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

My friend doesn't speak in english. So instead he want me consult an attorney for his immigration matters. He was convicted of felony drug charge in 2000 year calender 13 years ago.Now ICE got him in custody and released by bond paying $8,000,he has a masters hearing on the 20th of june.Anyway the main important question here is that,If he got in custody of ICE a year ago, shouldn't he be appearing in court/EOIR in six months to hear about his removal and deportation proceeding. In another words how long should he recieve a decision from IJ about his removal case?,how long is going to take him for final decision?.

He really should hire an experienced Immigration Attorney to represent him. This matter is too serious for freebie advice.
