Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Personal property search by emplyer

I work for a chemical company in their pigment division. We (the employees) were informed by the company that they have instituted a policy where they will have drug, explosive, fire arms and other sniffing dogs at the gate and if the dog reacts to your car your car will be searched. We were also told we have no expectation of privacy while at work. Is this legal in NY?

It could be so long as it is applied

without prejuddice. The nature of your workplace is a dangerous environment where flamable chemiocals are used, and depending on the specifics this could be a valid way of dealing with threats and/or safety regulations.
