Legal Question in Social Security Law in New York

Hello,

I am a disabled widow polio in both legs.I get widows pension and a little disability check of my own.I called social security and asked them if i can get my fathers benefits instead of my own because my fathers is more then mine is.they said no,because i recieved widows pension.Is this true? I had polio ever since i was 4 years old and never recieved childs benefits.Please help if you can.I'm finding it harder and harder to make ends meet.
