abandonded boat

32 ft. sail boat abandoned on personal property. Owner refuses to communicate for more than 5 months.

What is the legal procedure for taking ownership and selling boat?

I would be wary (If I were you) regarding any action that could prove premature on your part to claim the boat (and acquire legal title)in order to sell it.

In my view you should consult with a local North Carolina attorney in your area regading the procedures which North Carolina may require in this particular situation in order for you to dispose of this boat in a manner which accords with the requirements of North Carolinian law and which will not subject you to possible legal repercussions from the legal owner.
