Legal Question in Civil Litigation in North Carolina

farm property owners rights

my question is, a relative owns a farm and a dog has been chasing his animals. he has asked the dog owners to keep the animal off his property. this has failed because the dog is still chasing his animals. he told the people that if this continues he will shoot the dog. the dog owners have brought ''comunicating threats'' charges against him. he is very worried. what should the outcome be? he has a court date for 15 november. thanks

Re: farm property owners rights

First, I am not sure that the crime of "communicating a threat" applies to a threat to an animal. Second, as the question indicates, this is a contingent threat. As such, it would generally not be a crime. As always, it is advisable to consult an attorney before going to court.
