Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Do I have to pay for something that was given to me?

A person who comes into my place of employment said he had a set of speakers that he needed to get rid of because they were taking up too much space in his basement. He said I could have them if I went to his house and got them. So a few months later, he wanted me to pay for them. Do I (by law) have to pay for them? Thanks for your help.

Re: Do I have to pay for something that was given to me?

You must be able to prove all of the elements of a gift. These are: donative intent, and delivery. You have to prove that he meant to give them to you.
