Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

inquiry of sexual registration laws

I was arrested for importuning. I didnt have money so i went with a court appointed attorney, she advised me the best thing to do would be to plead guilty, i would recieve fines and probation and maybe jailtime but sexual registration was not a consequence. after court proceedings i was sentenced to sexual registration, the registering sherriff said my offense does not require registration and I need to have this looked into. Im 24 years old trying to start a career and finish school. i have never been in trouble before so i can have this expunged in 2 years and have no record but they said the registration is 10 years. im very scared and this greatly affects my future. Can i do anything about this, do i need to register or can i fight it. Thank you

Re: inquiry of sexual registration laws

You raise a very good question. However, I need to know the specific section of the Revised Code that you were convicted under before I can answer your question. It might be best if you call me at 937 502 4160 to give me the specifics.
