Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

gaurdianship of a minor child

My husband and I would like to become the legal gaurdians/parents to his little brother. How do we go about doing this? where would we even start?

Re: gaurdianship of a minor child

There a few ways to proceed. First of all, what has happened to your parents. If they are still around, they will need to consent to anything. The easiest thing to do would be to petition the juvenile Court for "legal custody". If that does not work, you can apply to the probate court for guardianship.

I just did a legal custody matter for a client and because of my training and experience it was no big deal.

Good Luck.
