Legal Question in Traffic Law in Ohio

wrong county

I recvd a traffic violation in Licking County and sent with no contest the amount to the court address written by the highway patrol (Licking County Clerk of Courts). A month later the court of licking county sent back my ''voided'' check with the ticket stating that the ticket was never filed. Now two months later I recvd a letter from the next county Franklin stating that I am default of paying my fine and add an additional $100 to the cost of the ticket. If the ticket is filed in the wrong county am I still responsible for the fine and additional charges? It was the officers mistake and now I am getting penalized.

Re: wrong county

This is not your fault, and you should not have to pay the additional amount. The problem is that you will need to spend time to come to the Courthouse and explain all of this to the right people before you can get the problem solved. To do that you will need to come to the Courthouse during business hours. I would estimate at least one hour of your time. The good news is that, if you invest the time, the Court will almost certainly fix the problem.

Best of luck.
