There is a 4 year statute of limitation on contracts. So, they can only sue you within 4 years of the date of last payment. However, they can call and write forever subject to the fair debt collection practices act. Also, despite the limitations issue, they could still sue you and you would have to defend yourself noting it has been more than 4 years.
