Re: inheiritance and divorce

This depends upon several things.

Is there a will? If so, the home will go to whoever is in the will. If there is no will, the home will go to your parent's children.

If you are the only child and the home goes only to you, then this is an inheritance, and is normally not marital property. However, any increase in the value of the home while you own it and are married, or if you sell it and commingle the money with your husband's while you are married, will be considered marital property.

This is only a summary of basic law, and I can not give an exact answer because I do not know your exact situation. Please contact me if you wish to discuss this further.
